Current as at 28 November 2022
Parcel Post items sent to Western Australia from the east coast of Australia may take up to an additional two weeks to be delivered (based on our current estimates).
Unaddressed Mail and Print Post deliveries are also impacted and may take an additional week to arrive.
Heavy rain and flooding have closed the Sydney-to-Perth rail line.
The Melbourne-to-Adelaide rail link was closed due to damage caused by a train derailment and reopened on 21 November, however delays are expected due to a backlog of freight.
Express Post service is not affected by the rail network disruptions. If you need to send items to Western Australia urgently, please consider this option.
Please note that as more customers opt to use this service, there may be a two-day delivery delay.
What we're doing
- We’re regularly scanning items to ensure we can identify and track any that may potentially be delayed. We'll let you know about any impacted items directly where possible.
- In line with increased activity at this time of year, we’ve more than doubled our usual airfreight capacity, which powers our Express Post service.
- We're also looking to access additional passenger flights on weekends to increase our capacity.
- To ensure we get your delivery to your door as soon as we can, we've started weekend deliveries in all metro capitals and some regional cities and towns.
- We’re engaging the Commonwealth Government around participating in national emergency relief and response arrangements.
